Young Arena opened its doors in December of 1994 and operates as part of the City of Waterloo Leisure Services Department. Young Arena is the home of the United States Hockey League's Waterloo Black Hawks who were the 2007 USHL Anderson Cup and the 2004 Clark Cup & Tier 1 National Champions; the Waterloo Warriors High School hockey team who are members of the Midwest High School Hockey League; the WaterlooYouth Hockey Association travel teams Mites thru Bantams, Cedar Valley Figure skating Club & Waterloo Adult Hockey Assocation.
Young Arena has been the host to over 850 events since its opening in December of 1994. Some of our most notable events have been the 1998 & 2001 D III NCAA National Wrestling Championship. 2003 thru 2009 AAU Regional Wrestling Championships. The 2005 & 2006 Iowa High School 3A District Wrestling Tournament and the 1995 & 2003 Varsity High School State hockey Tournaments. USA Hockey's King Of The Hill Tournament in 1998 as well as numerous USA Wrestling qualifying tournaments. The United States Hockey League's 1996 & 2007 All-Star Games; 2004 & 2008 Clark Cup Finals and 2007 USHL Final Four Championships. In May of 2008 Young Arena was the host site for the My Waterloo Days Concert Series which featured musical artists Jordan Pruitt, Drake Bell & Bret Michaels. Is the host site for the 2013 and 2014 Battle Of Waterloo Wrestling Tournament & Iowa AAU Super-Peewee Wrestling Championships.
