If you like black-ice you've found your mountain. I was stationed at Ft. Bragg when I first happened upon this place. This is where I got my first taste of snowboarding as a native Floridian. This mountain is roughly 1,000 ft tall and relies heavily on artificial snow. This is a great place to get an idea of snow sports if you're from the south sure. The next stage in your progression is to visit any of the superb mountains in Colorado.

Overall, this Sky resort is good if you were a professional or a beginner. The resort has green blue and black trails and they are easy medium and hard respectively. They also have a teaching area for children and first timers. They rent you the tools you need. There is an food area and it’s okay. There is a doctor on site that will give first aid in case of emergencies. Parking is relatively small but you will find a spot. Tube skying and skating are also available. At the end if you’re just looking for a place to sky, this is a good place.

Great place overall great food and good service and good prices. We will go back next winter to ski. There’s as-posted a double black diamond but it really not that bad. This place is old school and I like that. Good job sugar

I always enjoy Sugar Mountain, this was my third trip and again we had a great time. The prices are great and they manage the rentals pretty quickly. The queues for the lifts can get a bit long but usually not to bad. We also love the upstairs lounge for adults, it's got great views of the slopes and good service.. It's a quick and scenic 5 hr drive from Atlanta. I usually stay at the Best Western in Banner Elk, however with their recent political interjections, we will look for lodging elsewhere next time.. We will be back to Sugar Mountain!

We went here during the summer so obviously it was basically empty, but they had advertised down hill tubing and mountain biking. The tubing was TINY, about a 20 yard plastic track that looked like something you'd set up for the kids in your back yard. Didn't get to do any biking, lots of people there though it looked promising. The "bar" was closed but they had bud light at the cafeteria.
